Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen has threatened to leave  Formula One after he was punished by Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for swearing in a press- conference. The star driver is disappointed and not satisfied after this call on his actions. He bashed F1 for how they run the sport referring to them as “silly talking about his issue where a mere swearing saw consequences and punishment.

Verstappen threatened to quit F1 at a press conference after the Singapore race. He also questioned whether FIA will be bothered if a champion is lost due to their premature actions.

“I don’t know how seriously they will take that kind of stuff but for me, at one point, when it’s enough, it’s enough. We’ll see. Everything will go on, I have no doubt. It’s not a problem because Formula One will go on without me, but it’s also not a problem for me. So it’s how it is," the 26-year-old said

Why was Verstappen punished?

Before the Singapore Grand Prix 2024 the FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, stated he did not want drivers to swear, comparing them to rap artists. The next day Verstappen was caught swearing at the press conference and he was punished giving him a punishment of day's community service. Verstapen said his car is "f****d" in the press conference.  After Sunday's race, Verstappen answered all the questions regarding the race and his behavior in the press conference.

The 26-year-old was asked that does issues like these can impact his future playing the sport “For sure, yeah. I mean, these kinds of things definitely decide my future as well. When you can’t be yourself, you have to deal with these kinds of silly things. Now I’m at a stage of my career that I don’t want to be dealing with this all the time. It’s really tiring," Max said.

He further bashed the FIA for stealing the joy he gets in racing and achieving success but these small issues keep resulting as a barrier.

“Of course it’s great to have success and win races, but once you have accomplished all that, winning championships and races, then you want to just have a good time as well. Everyone is pushing to the limit. Everyone in this battle, even at the back of the grid. But if you have to deal with all these kind of silly things: for me, that is not a way of continuing in the sport, that’s for sure," added the Red Bull driver.
