India have clinched 29 medals in Paris Paralympics 2024 including seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals. Here is India's medal tally in marquee event.
The Indian contingent wrapped up its historic Paris Paralympics campaign with a record-breaking total of 29 medals, comprising seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze. This is the highest medal tally ever achieved by India at the Paralympics. With this landmark achievement, India has surpassed their previous best performance at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where they won 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and six bronze.
This historic medal haul also propelled India past the 50-medal milestone in Paralympic history. From August 28 to Sunday, a record 84 para-athletes represented India across 12 disciplines, up from nine disciplines at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Additionally, India made its debut in new sports at the Paris Games, including para cycling, para-rowing, and blind judo. Throughout the competition, India set multiple records and achieved several new milestones, marking significant "firsts" at the Paralympic Games.
Indian shooter Avani Lekhara was the first athlete who clinched first gold medal for nation she became the first ever Indian woman to secure two Paralympic gold medals as she managed to defend her women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 shooting title with a world record score of 249.7 points.
