After the unique opening ceremony, the Paris Olympics are underway with sporting action on Saturday with a host of international and Indian athletes opening their campaigns. The opening day of the Games will be heavy for India as their shooters, hockey team, boxing, table tennis, and badminton stars will be seen in action. The opening day will also witness gold-medal contests in shooting, diving, cycling road, judo, skateboarding, rugby 7s and swimming. Fiji will be running for a third successive Rugby 7s gold as they face Australia in the semi-finals before the final slated for later this evening. India vs New Zealand Hockey clash underway

 

That was a close match between India and New Zealand in the opener clash of the Paris Olympics but it was Harmanpreet Singh's last-minute goal that helped India to defeat New Zealand 3-2 in a nail-biter clash. India will now face India takes the lead in the last quarter, Harmanpreet Singh smashed in style in a penalty shoot. IND-3 NZ-2. India will now face Argentina for their second match of the marquee event which is scheduled to take place on July 29. This will going to be a tough match for India.

Ace Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen beat Kevin Cordon of Guatemala in straight games in a group match of the men's singles badminton competition at the Paris Olympics. 

 

 

10 AM Air Pistol Women's Qualification 

India star shooters Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan are in action. After Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema, all eyes are on Women shooters. Manu Bhaker is currently in 7th rank and Rhythm Sangwan is in 8th. But there is a long way to go for Indian shooters. Manu Bhaker is in second position as of now and Rhythm Sangwan is in 12th position at 4.34 PM IST.  Indian star shooter Manu Bhaker finished on number three to keep medal hopes alive for India with 580 points. 

 

 

10m Air Pistol Men's qualification round

Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema are currently involved in the 10m Air Pistol Men's qualification round.  Sarabjot Singh is now on number three and it seems like the shooter will qualify for the next round. Top 8 shooters from the tally will qualify for the next round.  Sarabjot ends in ninth rank, the shooter misses out by a small margin, bad day for Indian shooters. 

 

Kazakhstan clinches first medal of Paris 2024

Kazakhstan's mixed pair of Alexandre Le and Islam Satpayev win bronze in the 10m air rifle competition with a 17-5 victory over Maximilian Ulbrich and Anna Janssen of Germany. With this bronze medal, Alexandre Le and Islam Satpayev break the shooting medal drought as this is Kazakhstan's first Olympic medal in shooting since 1996.

 

 

Indian pairs crash out of 10m air rifle mixed team qualification

China and Korea head into the gold-medal match finishing on 1 and 2 in the qualification round. Kazhakstan and Germany will feature in the bronze-medal clash as they round up the top 4. India's shooters have a lacklustre outing and are out in the qualifiers.
