There remains a possibility of additional medals for India. Wrestler Reetika Hooda has a chance to win bronze if she progresses through the repechage round. Furthermore, the Court of Arbitration for Sport is set to deliver a verdict on Vinesh Phogat's appeal for a silver medal.

The trend continued in 1972 with Pakistan claiming silver and India bronze in hockey. In 1976, Pakistan won hockey bronze, while India drew a blank. This dominance persisted in 1984 with Pakistan's hockey gold and India's medal-less performance. The pattern repeated in 1988, with India again failing to win a medal, while Pakistan secured a bronze in boxing. The 1992 Barcelona Olympics saw Pakistan clinch hockey bronze, further extending its dominance over India.
