UP CM Yogi Adityanath felicitates Indian hockey players Lalit Upadhyay, Rajkumar Pal for Paris Olympics bronze medal

Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath felicitated Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal for their heroics in the Paris Olympics 2024.

Indian hockey players Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal were felicitated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for clinching bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. The players will be given Rs 1 crores each for their performances in the Olympics. This was India's second consecutive medal in Olympics. 

 

CM Yogi took to X to announce their felicitation at a ceremony organised in Ghazipur.

“Attended the grand felicitation ceremony organized today at the holy land of Maharaja Gadhi and Maharishi Vishwamitra, district Ghazipur, and felicitated the talented and successful players of the Indian hockey team, Shri Lalit Upadhyay ji and Shri Rajkumar Pal ji, along with their families, who won bronze medals in Paris Olympics-2024. Our great players have made an incomparable contribution in restoring the glory of hockey through the Paris Olympics. On this occasion, local sports talents were also felicitated. @UPGovt And on behalf of the people of the state, hearty congratulations to all of you! Infinite best wishes for a golden future!” wrote Yogi Adityanath.

Harmanpreet Singh led the Indian hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Spain, securing the nation's second consecutive Olympic bronze medal. This remarkable achievement hadn't been accomplished in 52 years. The match, held at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, marked a bittersweet moment as legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh played his final international game.

 

After his last international game, PR Sreejesh appointed as the coach for junior hockey team. Harmanpreet emerged as the leading goal-scorer in the tournament, netting 10 goals in eight matches, surpassing Australia's Blake Govers, who scored seven goals, by three.
