The multi-time WWE Champion, John Cena, has made waves with the announcement that he will step into the wrestling ring in India for the very first time. The much-anticipated match is set to unfold at the Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad on 8th September.

Cena's most recent in-ring appearance for WWE was during this year's WrestleMania, where he competed against Austin Theory for the US Championship. Unfortunately for Cena, the match concluded with Theory emerging victorious.

However, fans were treated to an unexpected delight when Cena made an unannounced appearance at the Money In the Bank 2023 Premium Live Event held at the O2 arena. It was here that Cena made a passionate appeal for a WrestleMania to be hosted in the UK – an idea that garnered tremendous applause and appreciation from the crowd.

On 21st August, Fox Sports broke the news hinting at Cena's return to the wrestling stage. The report suggested that the former World Champion is geared up for the 1st September edition of Friday Night SmackDown, and more excitingly, Cena's participation in the Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad was also hinted at.

The buzz turned to reality when Cena confirmed the news on X, previously known as Twitter. The 16-time World Champion shared his exhilaration about wrestling for the first time on Indian soil and his eagerness to connect with WWE enthusiasts in the nation.

In his own words, Cena tweeted, "Delighted to join the @WWE family again live on #Smackdown! Eagerly looking forward to connecting with the #WWE Universe in India and wrestling for the VERY FIRST TIME there! The moment is NOW… See you all soon!" on X.

WWE's Superstar Spectacle, announced in August, marks the company's grand re-entry into India following a hiatus since 2017. The event promises a star-studded line-up with notable names such as Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and Jinder Mahal already on the promotional bill.
