India's tennis star Sumit Nagal couldn't to book his ticket to the main draw after losing to Hong Kong’s Chak Lam Coleman Wong in the final round of the qualifying stage of the Miami Open. After winning the opening set, Nagal failed to hold on to his momentum as Wong thrashed him 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the second round of qualifying. Bopanna and Eden to be in action

Meanwhile, India’s hope in singles finished with Nagal's departure, but their campaign in the doubles category is still very much alive. The duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Eden are set to face off against the formidable pairing of Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli in Round 1. The highly anticipated match will be played on March 21.

On the other side, Indian doubles no.2 Yuki Bhambri and his New Zealand partner Matthew Venus will lock horns against Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek in the round of 32 match.

In the last tournament, Nagal lost to Milos Raonic at Indian Wells after clinching a spot in the main draw due to Rafael Nadal’s last withdrawal. Nadal shared the news in a statement made on social media.

Notably, Nagal created a stir in January by storming into the second round of the Australian Open. The feat was instrumental in propelling him to enter the ATP top 100 Rankings.
