Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacers Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana have made significant advances in the Purple Cap race, currently holding the second and fourth positions, respectively. In their recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 28, Mustafizur secured two wickets and conceded only 19 runs in 2.5 overs. Similarly, in the same match, Pathirana also claimed two wickets while giving up just 17 runs in two overs.
Mustafizur is now tied with Mumbai Indians' (MI) star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Punjab Kings' (PBKS) Harshal Patel in the wickets column. Bumrah reclaimed the Purple Cap after taking a wicket in the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 27.
Meanwhile, Harshal Patel, who took a wicket against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26, now occupies the third spot.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, previously in third place, has dropped to fifth in the Purple Cap standings. Chahal went wicketless and conceded 41 runs in his allotted overs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 27.

The Indian pacer is currently holding the Purple Cap with 14 wickets from nine matches and boasts an exceptional economy rate of 6.63. Bumrah's highlights this season include a five-wicket haul.
Mustafizur Rahman (CSK)
The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh is close behind Bumrah, also with 14 wickets from eight matches. Mustafizur's economy rate stands at 9.75.
Harshal Patel (PBKS)
Currently in third place, Harshal has also taken 14 wickets from nine matches but has an economy rate of 10.18. His recent performance included a three-wicket haul where he conceded only 15 runs in three overs against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 21.
Matheesha Pathirana (CSK)
The young Sri Lankan pacer has taken 13 wickets in just six matches, maintaining an economy rate of 7.68. Known for his effective death bowling and yorkers, Pathirana recently secured a four-wicket haul against MI on April 14.
Yuzvendra Chahal (RR)
The prominent Indian leg-spinner is the only spinner in the top five, having taken 13 wickets from nine matches at an economy rate of 9.00.
